Current Vacancies- ECVIM/ACVIM- boarded/board eligible Internal Medicine Specialist

Up to 1yr Fixed Term (Mat Cover)

The Animal Health Trust is a large UK-based veterinary institute dedicated to promoting animal welfare through improved understanding of diseases in cats, dogs and horses. The AHT is situated in a beautiful location just 4 miles from Newmarket, and has a number of research groups (including virology, epidemiology, pathology, genetics, and molecular oncology), along with a multidisciplinary small animal referral clinic and an equine referral clinic. The small animal clinic is dedicated to providing the highest standards of patient care, and has an active programme of clinical research and post-graduate training (internships and residencies).

We have a vacancy for an ACVIM/ECVIM Internal Medicine specialist/board eligible candidate to join our Internal Medicine team within the small animal referral clinic.  This position is a fixed term post to cover maternity for up to one year initially although it could be longer.

We currently have an ECVIM approved residency training programme in Oncology, and are also in the process of extending this to Internal Medicine.  The Oncology/Medicine group works closely with our other disciplines - dermatology, anaesthesia and critical care, diagnostic imaging, soft tissue surgery, neurology, and ophthalmology - which are integrated in our small animal clinic which contains all the facilities expected of an advanced referral clinic, including a 1.5T MRI, fluoroscopy, scintigraphy, videoendoscopy, and minimally-invasive surgical equipment. Our pathology and clinical pathology laboratories at the AHT complement the clinical services and enable us to offer a comprehensive on-site diagnostic service.

We are looking for an accomplished individual who shares our objectives of providing the highest quality patient and client care, working cooperatively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and who has an interest in contributing to our ongoing residency training and clinical research programmes. We are able to offer a very friendly and rewarding environment in which to work, and a competitive salary. This position would ideally commence in November 2010.

For further information, please contact Sue Murphy, Head of Oncology/Medicine (e-mail sue.murphy@aht.org.uk) or Nicola Siebeck, Clinician Oncology/Medicine (nicola.siebeck@aht.org.uk),  or alternatively telephone +44 1638 552700.

If you are interested in applying for this position, please forward your CV and covering letter, stating why you are interested in this role and your current salary, to recruitment@aht.org.uk or Samantha Bal, Human Resources Assistant, Animal Health Trust, Lanwades Park, Kentford, Newmarket CB8 7UU. Tel: 01638 555669.

Closing Date: Wednesday 1st September 2010

*If you have not heard from us within 4 weeks of the closing date please assume on this occasion you have been unsuccessful with your application. Many thanks for your continuing interest in the AHT.
