From our centre of excellence in Suffolk we are achieving amazing things and leading the way in treating animals and tackling disease. 2017 is our 75th year and we are as committed as ever to clinical excellence, research and education. We are now looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic ophthalmologist to add to our team and contribute to our continued success and development.
The ophthalmology unit is well equipped and has a busy medical and surgical caseload. Our clinic contains all the facilities expected of an advanced referral clinic including two operating microscopes, two phacoemulsification units, external and endoscopic diode laser, cryotherapy, strontium plesiotherapy, electroretinography/ultrasonography, retinal camera (RetCam), 1.5T MRI, 16 Slice CT, fluoroscopy, scintigraphy, videoendoscopy, and minimally-invasive surgical equipment. We also have a radiotherapy suite comprising a Clinac 23EX linear accelerator, and HDR brachytherapy.
Our small animal clinic is committed to providing the highest standards of patient care, and has an active programme of clinical research and post-graduate training. The ophthalmology team works collaboratively with other specialist departments including internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, neurology, dermatology, and is supported by anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging. The pathology and clinical pathology laboratories at the AHT complement the clinical services, providing a full on-site diagnostic service.
There is also the opportunity to be involved with horses. We have a dedicated equine consult room and operating theatre, and can hospitalize equine patients with the necessary supportive staff.
The ophthalmology unit is also actively involved in ongoing collaborative projects between our genetics and stem cell research groups.
In addition to the above, our reward package includes time off clinics for research, health benefits and a range of employee discounts.
You will need to be a diplomate or board eligible candidate to apply for this position.
