From our centre of excellence in Suffolk we are achieving amazing things and leading the way in treating animals and tackling disease. 2017 is our 75th year and we are as committed as ever to clinical excellence, research and education. The AHT has a number of research groups (including virology, epidemiology, pathology, genetics, and molecular oncology), along with a multidisciplinary small animal referral clinic and an equine referral clinic. The small animal clinic is dedicated to providing the highest standards of patient care, and has an active programme of clinical research and post-graduate training (internships and residencies). The surgery group works closely with our specialists from other disciplines, including anaesthesia, critical care, oncology, orthopaedics, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, neurology, ophthalmology, and internal medicine. On site we have the following facilities, CT, fluoroscopy, 1.5T MRI and linear accelerator. The pathology and clinical pathology laboratories on site complement the clinical services and enable us to offer a full on-site diagnostic service.
We currently have one vacancy for a senior clinician/clinician to join our Small Animal Surgery Department. The successful candidates will be either boarded (ECVS/ACVS/RCVS) or board eligible and can specialise in either soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics or a combination of both disciplines, depending on personal preference. You will join a team of four other surgeons and one surgical nurse. The successful candidate will benefit from an excellent work to life balance with a generous off clinics allowance. Whilst on clinics, your primary responsibility will be the delivery of a first class surgical service, using our recently refurbished state-of-the-art theatre suites, supported by our dedicated theatre staff. An extensive range of surgical equipment is available, including minimally invasive/interventional radiological instrumentation and the Biomedtrix THR kit. The successful candidates will also provide an emergency out-of-hours service as part of the team. Candidates interested in research are able to develop and/or lead research projects during off-clinics time and extensive collaborations with other institutions/disciplines are already in place and encouraged.
Starting salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications. In addition the AHT remuneration package includes an excellent pension scheme, employee health plan worth £850 pa, employee assistance scheme, generous CPD allowance and time off for clinical research.
