Canine

We regret that we can only process mouth swabs supplied by Animal Health Trust since March 2006.

For those tests which require mouth swab kits but which cannot be ordered through the Webshop , please contact swabrequest@aht.org.uk to obtain the sampling kits.

Verification of Samples

The Animal Health Trust accepts samples whether or not the identity of the dog has been verified by a veterinary surgeon. However, there is space on our forms for a veterinary surgeon to confirm the identity of the dog, for example by microchip number, if the owner wishes.

Clients should be aware that some Breed Clubs and Registration Authorities may only accept a DNA Test Result if the dog's identity has been verified and should check with their Breed Club or Kennel Club as appropriate.

Cattle

Samples for DNA profiling or parentage analysis in cattle can be semen or hairs. Hairs must be plucked not cut, and should be submitted in a labelled bag obtainable free of charge by contacting Symone Ingram on tel 01638 555621 or e-mail dnatesting@aht.org.uk.

The Animal Health Trust has robust procedures in place for tracking samples at all stages of processing, ensuring the reliability of our DNA testing service. However, as samples are identified and processed using information supplied by the owner on the accompanying Request for DNA Testing form, owners must make certain that the details given on that form are accurate and that each form is clearly associated with the correct sample(s).

Prices applicable from 1st January 2011. Fees are payable upon submission. Credit card payments can be made by providing the following information:

Results will be issued as soon as they are ready- not by telephone but by e-mail and post only as completed on the test request form.
