Equine industry support
The Animal Health Trust has been delivering invaluable support to the equine industry for more than 70 years. We are constantly monitoring equine disease around the world, identifying threats to the British equine population, enabling us to put in place robust plans to head off infectious disease wherever possible. This enables Thoroughbred and sports horses to remain fit for function.
Our research programmes develop new diagnostic tests, treatments, vaccines, and preventative measures which fight disease and injury in horses, and we share our knowledge with veterinary professionals and those in the equine industry for the benefit of horses.
Use our menu below to find out more about some of the current services we can offer you:
As well as our EHV-1 research programme, we offer virus clearance testing following abortion.
Equiflunet aims to improve awareness of equine influenza amongst veterinary surgeons and horse owners.
Our ongoing research into the ability of S. equi to cause Strangles has led to the development of diagnostic tests.
EQUINE GRASS SICKNESS
We’re fighting this often fatal disease through our on-going surveillance scheme and vaccine trial.
|The Animal Health Trust (AHT) is extremely grateful to the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB), Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) and Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association (TBA) for their continued combined contribution to the AHT’s Equine Infectious Disease Service, which in particular supports key staff within the Diagnostic Laboratory and Pathology Service and allows enhanced investigation and control of significant equine infectious diseases in the United Kingdom.
