OUR FINANCES
It costs £10,000 every day for the AHT to find new ways of preventing and curing animal disease. As an independent charity, which receives no government funding, we rely on generous donations and grants. Through this support we can maintain our position at the forefront of veterinary progress, ensuring our work benefits generations of horses, dogs and cats around the world.
Where our income comes from
In 2010, our total income was £11.32 million. The funds we raised amounted to £3.19 million. The balance of our income came from funding for our research work (£1.62 million), funding for our educational work (£0.05 million), income from our clinical services (£6.39 million) and investment income (£0.07 million)
Every penny we receive is ploughed back into our charitable work, enabling us to be a leading authority in the understanding of diseases in animals through scientific endeavour and its application to their welfare.
How we spend it
In 2010, we spent a total of £11.78 million achieving our objectives. £3.31 million was spent on research. We spent £0.80 million on education and £6.69 million delivering and developing our clinical and laboratory services. The remaining £0.80 million was accrued in governance costs.
We spent £894,000 on generating vital funds through our fundraising activities. During 2010, for every one pound we invested in fundraising we raised more than £3.50.
