After graduating from Loughborough University in Human Biological Sciences in 1988, Julia began working at the AHT as an Equine Neurology Research Technician in January 1989. Julia transferred to the Centre for Small Animal Studies (CSAS) once the Equine project ended. Julia now runs the Canine Hearing testing scheme which began in May 1992. This assesses the hearing of dogs and puppies from breeds at risk of Congenital Deafness, as well as testing the hearing of older dogs with acquired hearing problems. She assists the neurology team with electro-diagnostics, sample handling and various research projects, and carries out electroretinography for the Ophthalmology Unit as required.
The Animal Health Trust is a veterinary charity, based in Suffolk, which offers clinical referral services and diagnostic testing for horses, dogs and cats in East Anglia, across the UK and internationally. Through its research programmes it develops new diagnostic tests, treatments and vaccines to help thousands of animals.
