The Animal Health Trust is a leading veterinary research institute and registered Charity with the prime purpose of promoting the cause of animal welfare through veterinary research, together with advanced clinical and educational commitment. It is internationally recognised as a centre of scientific excellence for veterinary research. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated research assistant, to work within our Contract Research Group (CRG). This lab-based position will support our applied research work, which aims to better understand the basis of immunity and protection induced by modern equine vaccines. The post-holder will work on a number of different projects and will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation of the CRG activities under the guidance and supervision of the Principal Investigator. Areas of the role include assisting with the in vivo phase of animal studies, performing technical laboratory/bench work, completing laboratory quality checks for sample storage and collating and processing data. The post-holder will interact with European Veterinary Vaccine manufacturers through our collaborative work to improve the design of and evaluate new equine vaccines.
The successful candidate for this role will have a relevant degree in Biology (BSc, MSc or equivalent), with previous experience as research assistant or similar, knowledge of biological sciences (especially serological assays and molecular biology). The candidate will have strong organisational aptitudes, communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to multitask with minimal supervision.
