Meet Dodger, an 18-month-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. After a rather hard start in life, Dodger has finally been given the chance to 'tell his tail'!
Dodger was born deaf and with severe cataracts in both eyes, making him almost completely blind. After his owners were reported for badly mistreating him, the RSPCA were able to step in and successfully remove Dodger from his abusive home.
Our ophthalmology team worked with the RSPCA to give Dodger a new lease of life. Following cataract surgery in both eyes, we were able to fully restore Dodger's sight.
Claudia Hartley, our Head of Ophthalmology (pictured with Dodger, right), said: “Dodger won the AHT team over with his charm and affectionate nature. Both of Dodger’s operations went very well and we’re confident he now has sight in both eyes. It’s an absolute joy to be able to help dogs like Dodger who will now, hopefully, have a much brighter future.”
Dodger has been successfully rehomed with an experienced owner, who is able to cope with his deafness and give him the love and support he deserves.
Dodger is now living a much happier life thanks to everyone that was able to help him in his recovery process. You can click here to watch a video about this brave Staffie's story.
