new faces in our surgery team!
Our surgery team is rapidly expanding, with three new faces on board – veterinary surgeon Georg Haimel, veterinary nurse Michelle Higman and surgical resident Fui Yap.
Georg Haimel is a veterinary surgeon who originally studied for his veterinary degree in Vienna, Austria. After a spell in practice, he returned to Vienna to commence a rigorous three year surgical training programme, which he completed in the summer of 2014. Georg and his family have made the move from Vienna to Suffolk and are settling in well. Georg is interested in both soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery and he is particularly experienced in minimally-invasive techniques.
Michelle Higman is a veterinary nurse who will also be joining the surgery team in May. Michelle has worked at the AHT for several years as a general ward nurse but she is now going to be concentrating on caring for our surgical patients.
The final new starter is Fui Yap, who is a long-term visiting surgical resident from Glasgow Vet School. Fui is half way through her specialist training and enjoys all aspects of surgery.
We’re also delighted to announce that Nic Woodbridge, our Head of Orthopaedics, passed his European College of Veterinary Surgeons diploma in February, obtaining arguably the highest qualification possible in the field of surgery. Nic joins Kelly Bowlt-Blacklock, our Head of Soft Tissue Surgery, who all well as being DipECVS, is also a Royal College Specialist..
