AHT CONFIRMS NEW CASES OF EQUINE HERPESVIRUS-1
The AHT has confirmed cases of EHV-1 at two sites in Devon and Warwickshire.
We believe there is an epidemiological link between the cases as the mare affected in Warwickshire had moved from the Devon premises 16 days before diagnosis. Vets and scientists from the AHT are continuing to work with horse owners and vets in the local areas to bring the outbreaks under control.
If you are concerned that your horse may have been exposed to EHV-1, please consult your vet for advice. If your horse is infected or has been exposed, please act responsibly and avoid moving the animal until it has been given the all clear by your vet.
In the light of recent Equine HerpesVirus (EHV-1) outbreaks, the AHT has launched a set of guidelines for horse owners and event co-ordinators to help minimise the risk of any infectious disease spread.
You can download the AHT’s guidelines for avoiding the inadvertent spread of equine disease here.
