There have been recent suggestions of a relationship between EGS and equine motor neurone disease, a neurodegenerative disorder related to deficiency of Vitamin E.  These two conditions seem to represent different ends of a scale of disease with some overlap but this requires further investigation.

Always consult your vet if you are concerned your horse has symptoms of EGS.

This picture shows a horse displaying signs of colic.  The degree of pain shown by EGS cases is often low, with violent colic episodes not usually a feature of the disease.  Colic occurs more frequently with AGS cases where it can be continuous.
