Equine Herpes Virus -1 (EHV-1) Abortion
As of 13th January 2011 EHV-1 infection has been confirmed in a single case of abortion on an Irish Draught mare in Herefordshire. The diagnosis was confirmed by the Animal Health Trust on the basis of positive PCR for EHV-1 in mixed fetal tissues. No further cases have been reported and investigations are ongoing.
As of 14th January 2011 EHV-1 infection has been confirmed in a single case of abortion on a Thoroughbred mare in Cheshire. The diagnosis was confirmed by the Animal Health Trust on the basis of positive PCR and virus isolation for EHV-1 in mixed fetal tissues. No further cases have been reported and investigations are ongoing.
On 17th January 2011 EHV-1 has been confirmed as the cause of abortion on a Thoroughbred mare in Hampshire. The diagnosis was confirmed by the Animal Health Trust on the basis of positive PCR for EHV-1 in mixed fetal tissues. No further cases have been reported and investigations are ongoing.
