Equine Herpes Virus-4: On 7th October 2011 the Réseau d’Epidémio-Surveillance en Pathologie Equine (RESPE) reported two outbreaks of Equine Herpes Virus-4 (EHV-4). One outbreak occurred in Rhone, France. A fifteen month old filly was affected and showed clinical signs pyrexia, cough and nasal discharge. The second outbreak occurred in Oise, France which involved a thoroughbred from a training establishment. In both cases a positive diagnosis was made by PCR of nasal swabs.
