The premises has been isolated and further testing is currently being carried out.
FRANCE
Equine Influenza
On 18th November 2011 Réseau d’Epidémio-Surveillance en Pathologie Equine (RESPE) reported an outbreak of equine influenza with 4 out of 25 animals affected at a training centre in Val-de-Marne, France. Equine influenza virus infection was confirmed by PCR on a nasopharyngeal swab in a vaccinated four-year-old, French Trotter mare with signs of coughing, nasal discharge and fever. Further work is in progress to characterise the strain of equine influenza virus involved in the outbreak. It is not clear whether this case is on the same premises as that reported for the same region on 16th November 2011.
