Pony Power at the National Championships

Show JumpPony Power was delighted to see so many of you at Draycott House for the Pony Club National Championships. Thank you to everyone who signed our Puissance Wall and if your Branch or Centre isn’t on it yet talk to your DC or Centre Manager about doing some fundraising for Pony Power so you can join in the fun! Did you see the Pony Power Puissance Wall or the Pony Power Flower Beds? They were there in the show jumping and cross country courses. Congratulations to all the winners over the four days and if any of you are going to the Novice Championships come and see us in the Pony Club stand.

Laura Bechtolsheimer prize

22 lucky Burghley Pony Club Members had a fabulous day with Laura as she passed on some of her expertise to these budding riders. Members of all ages and abilities took part in the wonderful location of Burghley Park.

The Burghley Pony Club ran away with this prize last year after raising a staggering £1,700 for the Pony Power campaign. Those who benefited from the clinic were instrumental in helping to achieve this amazing goal.

At the end of all the tuition everyone made their way across the park to have their photo taken in front of Burghley House, what a way to finish a truly amazing day for everyone involved!

Thank you Burghley Pony Club for all your hard work and thank you Laura for agreeing to be the incentive!

Remember this year, one Branch or Centre will win a clinic with eventing star Lucy Wiegersma and cross county course builder Eric Winter, all you need to do is raise £100 or more for Pony Power to be entered into the draw.

Well done to Galloway Pony Club who recently raised funds for the Pony Power campaign. On Friday 29 April, the Branch held a fun day on its open cross country course with small and big options for riders. The following weekend the Branch held a clear round show jumping competition. The Branch raised more than £229 from the two events and a percentage of this is being donated to Pony Power! Thanks Galloway – you’re all fantastic!!

Morpeth Hunt turn first brick red! Thanks to Morpeth Hunt we have our first red brick on or Puissance Wall. Make sure your Branch or Centre is on the wall by pledging to raise £100 during 2011 for Pony Power.

Thanks to Burton Hunt who have raised £52 by holding a raffle at their Spring Hunter Trials. Just £48 more to go and you’ll be in the raffle to win the exclusive eventing clinic with Lucy Wiegersma and Eric Winter.

Miracle Max and his adoptive mother

Max and PrideMax the Suffolk Punch foal was tragically orphaned at just 4 weeks old.  This is bad enough for most foals, but as Max is part of an endangered breed it made it all the worse! His breeder Nigel Oakley wanted Max to keep his indentity as a horses and so decided to introduce him to Pride, a 14 year old Suffolk Punch mare who hadn’t had a foal in four years.  No one ever expected Pride to take her duties one step further and amazingly she started to produce milk!

Max and PridePride and Max are spending the summer at Lanwades Park, the home of the AHT and everyone is welcome to come and visit them.
