Science Introduction
We are an independent research institute and registered charity , internationally recognised for our clinical and scientific research on diseases of horses and companion animals.
Our aim is to gain a clear understanding of diseases in animals through scientific endeavour and its application to their welfare. We develop new technology aimed at improving diagnosis, prevention and cure of inherited, infectious and non-infectious diseases. Multidisciplinary teams investigate disease at the molecular, cellular, whole animal and population level and we apply state of the art equipment and resources to develop our expertise in specific clinical and scientific disciplines.
We are at the forefront of research in preventive medicine and are involved in a wide range of areas that include vaccine development and evaluation, therapeutic drug testing and diagnostic development. The scientific areas covered are broad and our research programme focuses on seven main areas :
