The Virology group at the Animal Health Trust works on a variety of viruses, primarily those causing infectious diseases of horses. We have a variety of grant-funded research projects, carry out surveillance for influenza and herpesviruses, and support the development of improved vaccines by working closely with vaccine manufacturers. We also work closely with Diagnostic Laboratory Services to develop new or improved tests for equine infectious diseases. The Animal Health trust is an OIE (world organization for animal health) reference laboratory for equine influenza and equine herpesviruses.
