On 7 December 2018, RESPE reported a case of EVA in Calvados. The affected horse was a 10-year-old male Holsteiner that had no sings of disease. Positive diagnosis was confirmed by PCR on a semen sample by Dozulé laboratory for equine diseases. The horse was tested prior to the covering season and stands in Calvados, but came from Vosges originally.
West Nile Virus (WNV)
On 7 December 2018, the OIE reported cases of equine WNV in Sousse, Tunisia. There were a total of seven subclinical cases reported. Positive diagnoses were confirmed by seroneutralisation test by Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Abruzzo and Molise (OIE Reference Laboratory). The cases were diagnosed as part of an active investigation among equidae in this area following human cases of WNV in the same region.
The Washington Department of Agriculture has reported two confirmed cases of EHV-4 in Snohomish County. No further details are available.
Equine Influenza (EI)
On 6 December 2018, The Washington Department of Agriculture has reported four cases of EI. Two cases were confirmed in Snohomish County and two in Skagit County. Reports indicate that most of the EI cases have occurred in unvaccinated horses.
