Equine Influenza

One 14 December 2018, RESPE reported an outbreak of equine influenza on a Riding School premises in Paris. There were nine horses sampled and all were positive by PCR on nasopharyngeal swabs. Affected horses range in age from three-years-old to 10-years-old. Breeds include; five French Saddlebreds, a Belgian Sports Horse, a Belgian Warmblood and a Warmblood. Cases are reported as vaccinated. Currently there is no further information regarding this outbreak.

Equine Herpes Virus-4 (EHV-4) Respiratory Infection

On 13 December 2018, RESPE reported a case of EHV-4 respiratory infection on a premises in Ardennes. The affected horse presented with clinical signs of coughing. The positive diagnosis was confirmed by PCR on a swab by LABEO-Frank Duncombe.
