Equine Influenza (EI)

On 17 January 2019, Rossdales confirmed a case of EI on a premises in Lincolnshire. The laboratory confirmed positive in an unvaccinated 12-year-old Shetland Pony that presented with coughing and nasal discharge. There are a total of seven unvaccinated in-contacts and four of these are also demonstrating clinical signs consistent with EI. The positive diagnosis was confirmed by PCR on a nasal swab.



Equine Herpes Virus-1 (EHV-1) Neurological Disease

The Indiana State Department of Animal Health has reported a case of EHV-1 Neurological Disease in a horse in Elkhart County.  No details of the breed, age, gender or the clinical signs have yet been provided.  The horse which became ill on 5 January 2019, was treated but had to be euthanased later that day.  Vaccination history is currently unknown. No quarantine restrictions have been placed on the affected premises.
