Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) Abortion
On 16 November 2018, RESPE reported a case of EVA abortion in Orne. The positive diagnosis was confirmed by PCR on fetal organs. The affected animal has been isolated, with further epidemiological investigations being carried out including screening of in contacts.

Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA)
On June 13 2018, Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) officials reported EIA in two Kaufman County Quarter Horses located on the same premises (ICC June 18 #09). Since that time, one additional horse from the quarantined premises has been confirmed positive for EIA. In addition, TAHC officials confirmed EIA in one Tarrant County Quarter Horse and one Tom Green County Quarter Horse . The positive horses have been euthanased. The premises in Kaufman, Tarrant and Tom Green counties will remain under quarantine until requirements for release have been met. TAHC staff are working closely with owners and veterinarians to monitor potentially exposed horses and implement biosecurity measures.

West Nile Virus (WNV)
On 15 November 2018, The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reported a confirmed case of WNV. The horse resided in Johnston County. This is the fourth confirmed case of equine WNV in NC in 2018.
