Equine Herpes Virus-4 (EHV-4) Respiratory Infection
On 17 November 2018. RESPE reported a case of EHV-4 respiratory infection in Ille-et- Vilaine. The affected horse was an unvaccinated five-year-old Sports Horse mare that presented with pyrexia. The positive diagnosis was confirmed by PCR on a nasopharyngeal swab. There are a total of 50 in contacts.
On 19 November 2018, RESPE reported two separate cases of strangles. The first was on a premises in Orne. Positive diagnosis was confirmed by PCR on a guttural pouch sample by LABEO-Frank Duncombe. The second case was on a premises in Allier. Positive diagnosis was confirmed by PCR on a nasal swab by LABEO-Frank Duncombe.
