Head of Clinical Pathology

Closing date: 5th August 2019

Permanent (Full Time)

The Animal Health Trust is a large UK-based veterinary charity dedicated to promoting animal welfare through improved understanding of diseases in cats, dogs and horses.  Situated in a beautiful location just 4 miles from Newmarket in Suffolk, the AHT has multi-disciplinary small animal and equine referral clinics, veterinary diagnostic laboratories including pathology facilities and a number of associated research groups (including bacteriology, epidemiology, genetics, immunology, molecular oncology, pathology and virology).

We are seeking a clinical pathologist to lead the clinical pathology team and participate in diagnostic service work across a predominantly companion animal, including equine, caseload. The work focuses on cytology, haematology and biochemistry interpretation and includes close collaboration with clinical colleagues in our busy small animal referral clinic as well as external veterinary clinician clients. The successful applicant will report to the Medical Director of the small animal referral centre.

Compensation is dependent on experience and qualifications, and includes a competitive salary and benefits (e.g. generous pension scheme, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, and a employee assistance scheme). Time off diagnostic work is allocated for research if desired and continued professional development (CPD) is actively encouraged and promoted with a generous allowance.

Board certification (ACVP, ECVP or ECVCP) or FRCPath is highly desired, however board eligible candidates that have completed a recognised veterinary pathology residency program will also be considered.  Current membership of the RCVS (MRCVS) is required.
