Laboratory Technician

Salary: £17,617 - £18,673 pro rata

Up to 12 months fixed term (Maternity Cover), 35 hours per week

The Animal Health Trust is a leading charity dedicated to the improvement of animal health and welfare through veterinary research, together with high quality clinical services and a commitment to education. The Trust comprises of the Centre for Small Animal Studies, Centre for Equine Studies and Centre for Preventive Medicine.

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to join Canine Genetic Services, which provides canine DNA tests and parentage testing to veterinary professionals and individual dog owners and breeders.

The successful applicant, who will report to the Genetic Services Laboratory Manager, will work in the day-to-day operation of the DNA testing service, providing an efficient, accurate, customer-oriented and commercially competitive DNA testing service to our clients.

The successful applicant will have experience of a broad spectrum of molecular biology and genetics techniques, ideally in a diagnostic laboratory setting.  Experience of relevant quality management and health and safety frameworks would also be an advantage.
