Small Animal Surgeons (soft tissue and/or orthopaedics)

The Animal Health Trust is a charitable organisation aiming to fight disease and injury in companion animals. The small animal clinic is dedicated to providing the highest standards of patient care, and has an active programme of clinical research and post-graduate training (internships, residencies and PhDs).

The surgery group works closely with our specialists from other disciplines, including anaesthesia, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology and physiotherapy. On site we have CT, fluoroscopy, 1.5T MRI and a linear accelerator. The pathology and clinical pathology laboratories on site complement the clinical services and enable us to offer a full on-site diagnostic service. Additionally, the AHT has a number of research groups and an equine referral clinic with opportunities for collaborative work.

We currently have two vacancies to join our Small Animal Surgery Department. Temporary or part-time applications will also be considered.

The successful candidates will have experience working in a multidisciplinary referral environment and can specialise in either soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics or a combination of both disciplines, depending on personal preference. Whilst on clinics, your primary responsibility will be the delivery of a first class surgical service, using our recently refurbished state-of-the-art theatre suites, supported by our dedicated theatre staff. An extensive range of surgical equipment is available, including minimally invasive/interventional radiological instrumentation and the Biomedtrix THR kit.

The successful candidate will benefit from an excellent work to life balance with off-clinics time for applicants with research interests, generous employer pension contributions, 5 days of CPD and 35 days holiday (including Bank Holidays).
