In its celebratory year, a new Chairperson takes over the reins of the Fundraising Committee for the Animal Health Trust’s race day at Newmarket’s famous July Course.
Newmarket based Steve Elsom, Regional Director for the East of England at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, will lead the Fundraising Committee of the AHT’s annual charity race day.
The charity race day, organised by a very dedicated committee of local business figureheads, sees more than 250 guests enjoy a spectacular day’s racing, hospitality and an evening of music courtesy of Nile Rodgers & Chic at Newmarket Racecourse – all to raise valuable funds for the AHT. This year’s event on 8 June is particularly special as it is the 10th anniversary of the day.
Over the last 10 years, the event has raised nearly £400,000 for the Trust. This has enabled the charity to continue its vital work as the leading veterinary and scientific research charity dedicated to the health and welfare of horses, dogs and cats. The AHT has a close connection with the horse racing industry through its disease surveillance work to keep flu, Strangles and EHV outbreaks under control, and its new vaccine research which will hopefully offer improved protection from Strangles and EHV in the future.
Kevin Clements, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at the AHT, said: “The whole AHT Race Day Committee provides a tremendous amount of support which makes the race day possible. Without them, under the new leadership of Steve as Chairperson, this spectacular fundraising event would simply not happen. We are particularly looking forward to this year’s event on the 8 June as we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the event.”
A table at the Animal Health Trust’s Charity Race Day makes a perfect day out with friends and family or an ideal way to entertain business clients.
