We would like to reassure referring vets and our clients that the Animal Health Trust Small Animal Referral Centre and Equine Referral Clinic will be accepting referrals and treating patients as usual.

In the interests of protecting our clients and staff, we have put special measures in place in light of the current coronavirus outbreak.

For our small animal clients:

We will be contacting all clients in advance of their appointments to ask them a few questions and inform them of our policy regarding minimising risk both for them and us.

We are offering telephone consultations while they wait in the car park, minimising the number of people in the reception area at any one time and requesting that we all stay at least 1 metre apart.

Everyone entering reception will be asked to use the hand sanitiser outside before they come through the door. Throughout the day we will be regularly cleaning the door handles, along with other surface in the reception area and consulting rooms.

Small animal client questionnaire

For our equine clients:

The secretaries will ring all clients the day before their appointment or, for emergencies, speak at the time of making the appointment and ask them to complete a questionnaire.

If necessary, as requested by us or preferred by the client, the vet will then do the consultation over the phone and when we are ready to examine their horse, we will go out to collect it.

We will then perform our examination and report back to the client as required. Anyone coming into the building should use the hand sanitiser and refrain from any hand shaking. We will always try to maintain a distance of at least 1 metre distance from the client.
