Rebekkah Hitti

Research Assistant/PhD Student, Canine Genetics Research

The focus of Rebekkah’s research is mainly investigating the genetic basis of inherited retinal disorders in multiple breeds of dogs towards her PhD, including progressive retinal atrophy (PRA).

Rebekkah graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2013 with a BSc (Hons) in Animal Biology. After joining the AHT for a summer scholarship in 2012, Rebekkah acquired a keen interest in canine genetics leading to the completion of her final year dissertation project through work at the AHT, of which she was awarded the School Dissertation prize at University. After returning in 2014 as a Research Assistant in the Canine Genetics Research Group, Rebekkah is now continuing her research through a part-time PhD in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, primarily investigating PRA to identify mutations causing disease in dogs.
