The anaesthesia service at the AHT is unique. We offer one-to-one veterinary patient care at all times.

This standard of care is continued in the postoperative period when one of our trained nursing staff looks after each case.

What we offer:

  • One of our dedicated anaesthetists carries out every anaesthetic or sedation whether the patient is undergoing surgery or diagnostic procedures.
  • Every patient has full monitoring of cardiorespiratory parameters.
  • Post-op a trained nurse is designated to each case and intensive care patients receive one-to-one care from an anaesthetist, in conjunction with the clinician overseeing the case and the nursing team.
  • Our European Specialists in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia are available to give telephone and face to face advice to veterinary surgeons.

Pain assesment

At the AHT we believe that pain assessment is crucial for good analgesia for our patients, and good record keeping is essential. Below you will find downloadable pain assessment instructions and A3 size intensive care monitoring sheets. We hope you find these useful.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure accuracy of the above downloads, please note that the Animal Health Trust accepts no responsibility for the outcome of cases not under our care.
